Board Member
Sharon Washam is a native of Yadkin County and a graduate of Starmount High School and Gardner-Webb University. She previously worked in sales with a local heavy machinery company as well as with a large modular housing manufacturer. For several decades, she has been a resident of Cornelius, where she currently operates a small business, Washam Properties LKN, LLC.
Sharon worked alongside her husband, Woody Washam, during his four terms as Mayor of Cornelius, serving the community as Cornelius’s First Lady. In addition, she was a founding board member of Little Smiles of NC, a nonprofit organization dedicated to making smaller dreams come true for sick children in hospitals throughout the Lake Norman region. She currently serves as the organization’s Vice President.
She is actively involved in her faith community, serving on several committees at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
Sharon enjoys spending time with her six grandchildren and helping care for her 104-year-old mother. She has been a lifelong advocate for children’s education and for individuals with special needs.
