A nonprofit scholarship Christian preschool, will open its doors August 28, 2023, to give children in need a chance at a head start in their early childhood education.
The Purpose
“With 1 out of 4 children unprepared to enter kindergarten and private preschool tuitions running at $400 per month, we knew that something had to be done for these kids,” explained Rev. David Judge of First Baptist Church of Cornelius, Chairman of Cornelius Early Scholars. “Without a preschool education these children start behind the curve and never catch up.”
Our Approach
Cornelius Early Scholars plans to take a unique approach to early childhood education by educating the parents as well. “Kids need their parents or guardians to be involved in their education if they are to be successful. Unfortunately, many parents just don’t have the skills or training to help their kids at home,” said Rev. Judge. The expectation is that the majority of kids will get a full scholarship. But while there won’t be a financial cost for most, there will be the expectation that parents will participate in training classes to teach them to teach their children to develop good learning habits at home.
